The Dentist

So- I worked at a dentist office for a couple of months my senior year of high school. I also taught a unit on taking care of our teeth when I taught kindergarten and also preschool. But we also have no insurance. So five and a half years ago I was engaged and on my parents insurance. I went to the dentist. So did Adam. Five and a half years later... I eat popcorn and get a kernel stuck- really stuck clear up in my gums. I floss the heck out of it. It kills. I decide this cannot just be a stupid kernel. I moan for several days about a sore tooth. Adam says MAKE AN APPOINTMENT so I do. I go and lo and behold there is no cavity in that sore tooth- just sore from too much flossing. But I do have one cavity on the other side of the mouth. Sigh. First one on permanent teeth. I had two on baby teeth. So today I went to the dentist and got it filled. Luckily it is white so you can't tell. I confided to Adam last night that I was scared. He laughed- "you are afraid of the dentist???" Well- I hadn't had a cavity filled for twenty two years or something. When I went I realized that I was a woose- how do you spell that? Anyway- I am starting to get feeling back in my gums again :) The receptionist said on my way out... you're good for another six months. I laughed inside. We'll see.

I didn't know you worked in a dentsits office in high school. I did too.

You crack me up Cat! The trick to getting a cavity filled is to pass on the lidocaine. It might hurt a tad getting the filling, but to be able to walk out and not have to wait the hours it takes for that stuff to wear off is so worth it. And I am the biggest wuss when it comes to any type of pain. Welcome to the cavity club. I'll send you your complimentary candybar in the mail. :-)

Lucky you, I've got more cavities than actual teeth!
